Volunteer Opportunities

As a non-profit organization, the Strategic Air and Space Museum provides a variety of experiences for someone interested in volunteering. We offer many options, diverse in program type and commitment level. Volunteers have the opportunity assisting staff to celebrate our heritage, preserve our artifacts and provide community education in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math. You will also make new friends and receive the rewards associated with sharing your talents with others.
Volunteers are needed to help the Museum in the areas of:

11. Docent – Lead groups of visitors on guided tours throughout the museum. Provide information and answer questions about museum exhibits and events. Six-Week Training Provided
12. Volunteers Receptionist – Interact with visitors from around the world and help ensure that our customers who call in get their questions answered. Training Provided
13. Administration Volunteer – Volunteers would assist in our office with mailings, computer data entry and other general office duties. Training Provided
14. Summer Camp Assistant – Week long summer day camps are offered at the museum on a variety of topics. We are looking for a volunteer to help with each camp. We need folks who can come each day of the week long camp. Training Provided
15. Special Events Volunteer – Work with special events, greet visitors, and help with tickets & concessions (most events are on the weekends).
16. Airplane Host – Tell the story of one of our planes and allow visitors to envision the inspiration history associated with the airplane. Training Provided
17. Curatorial Volunteer – These volunteers assist our curatorial department in the following: creating hard file of information for items not accessioned into our collection and reviewing records from our collection, verifying location and status of items and entering data from accession sheets into Main Collection Record Database, developing standard script for specific permanent and temporary exhibits and research various topics, exhibits, and artifacts for use with the public. Training Provided
18. Restoration Volunteer – These volunteers work with experienced aviation technicians in restoring and maintaining our many aircraft and engines. No aviation experience necessary, just basic mechanical skills. Training Provided
