Overnights

Strategic Air & Space Museum OvernightsEnjoy an evening with friends performing exciting missions together in our amazing museum! Our Overnight Programs are an exciting way for kids to have fun and learn about science, technology, engineering, math, astronomy, robotics and aviation.

We offer a variety of Overnights geared for different types of groups. We have Overnights built just for Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, and non-scout groups too. We will also work with you to create a customized Overnight to suit your needs.

Overnight Policy: The Strategic Air & Space Museum Overnights Program is designed for youth ages 6-18. The Museum requires a minimum of 75 youth (combined from all groups) and has a maximum limit of 120 youth for an overnight.  A 5-to-1 youth to adult ratio is required. Call the Museum with your group information and the date you would prefer and we will work to help fill the minimum. The Museum reserves the right to cancel any overnight that doesn’t meet the minimum. All of our programs are safe, supervised, and highly educational.  Click HERE for a list of overnight rules while staying at the Museum.

How to Register: Participants may register online by FOLLOWING THIS LINKAfter you have registered you will receive an email confirming the receipt of your registration. A month prior to your registered overnight you will receive an orientation packet and invoice for your group. Registrations must be received at least two weeks prior to the overnight to have a spot reserved for your group.  Any registrations received less than two weeks prior to the overnight may be denied depending on the numbers already registered.

How to Pay: Groups are required to place a 50% deposit on their registration a month in advance of the overnight. The remaining balance will be paid the night of the overnight. Payment can be processed via check or credit card. For Private Overnights there is a $1,500 base fee which covers 50 people (children and adults). Every additional child or adult over the 50 person limit will be charged $25 per child and $15 per adult. Again, 50% of the deposit is due a month prior.

Beginning December 1st, 2014, groups will be required to pay their complete registration two weeks in advance (forgoing a deposit). Additional participants will be paid for on that evening at the regular rate. For more information on refunds and payment schedule, an updated overnight packet will go live with the new policy.

General Schedule: Museum doors open at 6:30 p.m. for check-in.  Overnight activities begin at 7:00 p.m. and bedtime varies, but is typically 11:00 or 12:00. Wake-up is at 7:00 a.m. and breakfast is served at 7:30 a.m. The overnight concludes at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday morning.

Overnight Descriptions

Our overnight programs do not fulfill all the requirements for a merit badge or belt loop; they instead fulfill a few of the requirements. Scouts will be required to do additional work with their counselors and Scout Masters to complete requirements.

Cub Scout Overnight: Spend a fun night at the museum with other Cub Scouts at the Strategic Air & Space Museum. Scouts will participate in aviation themed activities like paper airplanes, a behind the scenes tour, and paper rockets! After all the excitement, scouts can wind down with a movie in the Conagra Food theater and fall asleep under the SR-71 Blackbird.

Cost: $25.00 per scout, $15.00 per parent. Registration includes museum admission, all activities, evening snack, and breakfast in the morning.

Boy Scouts Astronomy Merit Badge: Spend a night under the stars at the Strategic Air & Space Museum! Scouts will participate in hands-on astronomy activities such as telescope viewing, making a planisphere, planetarium shows, and more! Our own museum astronomer will lead outdoor viewing sessions. You won’t want to miss out on this “stellar” overnight experience!

Cost: $32.00 per scout, $15.00 per parent. Registration includes museum admission, all activities, evening snack, and breakfast in the morning.

Boy Scouts Aviation Merit Badge: What better way to work for your Aviation Merit Badge than to do it at an aviation museum—the Strategic Air & Space Museum! Scouts will complete several Aviation Merit Badge requirements through hands-on workshops where they’ll learn the principles of flight and navigation, as well as build FPG-9 gliders and preform a pre-flight inspection. Scouts will also get a behind-the-scenes tour of our hangars.

Cost: $32.00 per scout, $15.00 per parent. Registration includes museum admission, all activities, evening snack, and breakfast in the morning.

Boy Scouts Engineering Merit Badge: Engineers are changing the world all the time. They dream up creative, practical solutions and work with other smart, inspiring people to invent, design, and create things that matter. Think like the engineers do as you work on your Engineering Merit Badge at the Strategic Air & Space Museum. Scouts will participate in engineering design challenges, build simple machines, work as a team, and more!

Cost: $32.00 per scout, $15.00 per parent. Registration includes museum admission, all activities, evening snack, and breakfast in the morning.

Boy Scouts Space Exploration Merit Badge: Blast off to learning at the Strategic Air & Space Museum, where scouts will work on their requirements to earn their Space Exploration Merit Badge. Scouts will participate in hands-on activities such as creating their own space station, building and launching an Estes Rocket, and more! Register early—you won’t want to miss out on this “out of this world” experience!

Cost: $32.00 per scout, $15.00 per parent. Registration includes museum admission, all activities, evening snack, and breakfast in the morning.

Boy Scouts Robotics Merit Badge: Spend a night full of robotics and technology at the Strategic Air & Space Museum where scouts can work for their Robotics Merit Badge. Learn basic programming using Lego Mindstorms, create a model of a working robot on the International Space Station, and more! “Get in gear” for this awesome overnight experience!

Cost: $32.00 per scout, $15.00 per parent. Registration includes museum admission, all activities, evening snack, and breakfast in the morning.

Girls in STEM Overnights: Calling all girl scientists, engineers, and space enthusiasts! You are invited to a night of fun and learning—for girls only! Through team work, experimentation, and hands-on activities, campers will “blast off” to learning in a fun, supportive environment where girls who love science can get together and play. This overnight is open to all girls between the ages of 8-12.

Cost: $25.00 per girl, $15.00 per parent. Registration includes museum admission, all activities, evening snack, and breakfast in the morning.
