Travel with us on an adventure to Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Cape Canaveral, Florida!

The wonder and amazement of space exploration is brought to life in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to visit Kennedy Space Center.  A private astronaut training program will leave you weightless as you experience the zero-gravity wall and explore the historic Rocket Garden and Astronaut Hall of Fame.  The inspiration is never-ending during this incredible experience as participants will receive the VIP tour of KSC grounds, including the Launch Pad, and even have the chance to talk to one of our nation’s space heroes during an Astronaut encounter luncheon.  This trip will have you seeing “stars” and dreaming of living amongst them as you explore the magnificence and glory of space flight.

This camp, offered by the Strategic Air and Space Museum, is truly a unique opportunity.  Kennedy Space Center, a national treasure, offers the excitement and thrill of modern space exploration combined with the rich history of the space program and those who made it great.  You will get the chance to see this blending of great generations in the acclaimed Astronaut Hall of Fame and Rocket Garden where you’ll journey back in time to encounter actual space artifacts and rockets, amazing exhibits, and the largest collection of personal space memorabilia anywhere.

While each day will have you on the edge of your seat, the Astronaut Training Experience (ATX) will have you on the edge of the moon as you train as actual astronauts.  You’ll begin your day with a formal briefing as astronaut trainees and then begin your voyage into the great unknown.  The ATX program combines full-motion shuttle simulators with real life situations that once faced our nation’s heroes, multi-axis trainers and a zero-gravity wall.  You will be assigned to a position on the mission team and given an operational task to complete, such as building a solar panel.  You will then hold that position throughout the day as your team prepares for launch, take-off and any combination of “triumphs and catastrophes” that may arise during your mission.

An astronaut’s training would never be complete though without a view of the launch pad that has sent so many blasting into our nation’s history books.  You will have the opportunity to view the launch pad, the vehicle assembly building as well as the shuttle landing facility in a VIP tour of the Kennedy Space Center grounds.  Your remarkable voyage doesn’t stop at the launch pad though.  You’ll actually be beamed among the “stars” to the “lunch pad” where you’ll take part in a one-on-one encounter with an actual NASA astronaut.  Talk to one of America’s greatest men or women and ask them what it takes to be a leader in the world of space exploration.

Finally, what training would be complete without a Graduation!  You will go through an official ATX graduation ceremony and receive an authorized ATX polo shirt and a 12-month pass to KSC.

This program is designed for campers ages 14-17 and includes airfare, lodging, meals, entertainment, and all-access passes to KSC.
